Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh State Election Commission (UP SEC) will release the final voter list for the three-tier Panchayat elections on Wednesday. The Commission has extended the date for publishing this list five times, but this time it has not been extended further.

What about the voter list?

On December 23, the Commission published the provisional voter list for the Panchayat elections, which included the names of 12.69 crore voters in the state. The situation regarding the elections may become clearer after the voter list is released.

About 18.1 million new names were added to the provisional voter list, 21.08 lakh voters' names were amended, and 14.1 million voters' names were deleted. The 2021 voter list had 122.9 million voters.

What about the applications?

Following the release of the provisional list, claims and objections were invited from voters, and millions of applications were received from across the state. The State Election Commission has heard and resolved all the claims and objections received.

Additionally, a special campaign was launched during April and May to verify duplicate names on the voter list, and the process has now been completed. According to Commission officials, the final voter list will be published on Wednesday after all necessary formalities have been completed.

Will details be available online?

For the first time, the Commission will make extensive use of technology in the Panchayat elections. All voters have been issued State Voter Numbers. Voter details, including their photographs, will be available online. Naccco one will be able to vote twice. A mobile app will allow a voter to vote by simply taking their photo at the polling booth, indicating that they have already cast their vote.
